10 Legal Advice for Business Startup

Being fired is hard enough, but being fired for an unlawful reason is wrong.

If you have been fired or believe you are about to be fired, Rich can help you navigate through this.

In North Carolina, an employer has the right to discharge an employee for almost any reason, unless it violates an established public policy of the State. As part of this public policy, employers do not have the right to terminate an employee because of the employee’s sex, race/color, national origin, disability, age or religion. Also, an employer generally may not terminate an employee for refusing to violate the law.

Other examples of unlawful employment termination:

• Testifying truthfully in court.
• Serving on a jury.
• Filing a workers’ compensation claim.
• Reporting violations of health and safety laws or wage and hour laws.

Rich Daugherty has handled a wide-range of wrongful termination cases. He knows that being dismissed from a job can be a traumatic and overwhelming experience for employees and their families. If you have suffered from a wrongful discharge, he will fight for you to aggressively pursue a reasonable settlement of your claim. If you are still employed and in fear of losing your job due to discrimination, it is critical that you seek legal counsel immediately. There are some things you can do prior to exiting your job that will be essential to protecting your rights.
